A daily update is a piece of news or information sent every day to keep people informed about key developments. It can be delivered through email, app notifications, brief meetings, or a platform like tchop(tm). For example, a project team might provide daily updates on their progress to foster alignment and engagement amongst employees.
To enable daily updates in your Action, configure one of its intents as the triggering intent, and set daily update as a response option. When a user invokes that intent, they will receive a notification with a link to the daily update conversation. They can schedule a time of day when they would like to receive the daily update (subscribing with this option). Then, Assistant will send them a notification at that scheduled time each day.
The daily updates can also be personalized to a particular user by collecting custom parameters when they register for the intent. These values can then be referenced when delivering the daily update, by adding arguments to your response. The details of how to implement this functionality vary depending on your use case and whether you’re using Dialogflow or the Actions SDK.
Unlike traditional, synchronous meetings, a daily update meeting is quick and efficient, and teammates can participate when it’s convenient for them. Moreover, Geekbot allows you to control how the questions are asked so that your teammates can answer them in a way that works best for them. You can even broadcast daily update to an existing team channel, such as the default one, making it easier to manage and track attendance.
